Matching Gifts ProgramThe Marathon Oil Company Foundation offers eligible Marathon and its affiliates' employees and retirees the opportunity to participate in our Matching Gifts Program. Beginning in 2003, when an employee or retiree makes a contribution of at least $50 in cash or securities to an accredited college or university, the Foundation will contribute a dollar-for-dollar match. This one-for-one matching program will apply up to an aggregate of $10,000 in gifts from an individual contributor per calendar year. Also beginning in 2003, retirees will have a cumulative, post-retirement maximum cap of $30,000 in matching gifts, subject to the $10,000 annual cap. To participate in the program, please print out and complete the form: Matching Gifts Plan Brochure (PDF, 81 KB). EligibilityGuidelines for the Foundation's Matching Gifts Program are established by the Marathon Oil Company Foundation Board of Directors and are reviewed on an annual basis or as conditions warrant. The Foundation reserves the right to deny matching contributions for ineligible gifts. All Marathon Oil Company or Marathon Petroleum employees and retirees who contribute through the Matching Gifts Program must adhere to the program's guidelines. Eligible employees must be permanent, regularly-scheduled, regular part-time, directors, or retired employees who were actively employed immediately before retirement from Marathon Oil Company, Marathon Petroleum Company LLC, or any of their wholly-owned, United State subsidiaries. To be eligible, single gifts must be a minimum of $50 and annual donor limits are determined by the actual date of the donor's contribution to the recipient organization. Eligible recipients must be tax-exempt educational institutions and be listed in the current edition of the Higher Education Directory published by Higher Education Publications, Inc. Any eligible organization must have 501(c)(3) status, according to the Federal Tax Code which establishes such criteria, in order to be considered for contribution through the Matching Gifts Program. Ineligible contributions include future gifts, the payment of tuition and/or student fees, and the purchase of goods and services such as sporting event tickets. Contributions designated for scholarship funds are not eligible contributions unless the educational institution administers such funds.
