Marathon's corporate headquarters and primary location for Exploration & Production activities is located in Houston, Texas.  

Located in southeastern Texas, just 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico coast, Houston is the fourth largest city in the nation with a greater metropolitan area that is home to some three million people.

Large concentrations of Marathon employees live in a variety of suburban communities including Sugar Land, Clear Lake, Pearland and Katy, many with van pools for commuting to the office.

Covering an area of approximately 596 square miles, Houston is accessible by two major airports and sits at the intersection of I-45 and I-59 from the north and I-I0 from east and west.

Houston has a very diverse population, with 90 languages spoken throughout the area. The city is not only considered the U.S. energy headquarters, with more than 5,000 energy-related businesses, it is also a hub of international business and is home to the Texas Medical Center. 

Houston boasts world-class performing arts in all disciplines and has 15 museums, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the sixth largest museum in the country. For the sports enthusiast, the city offers a full complement of professional sports teams and the largest livestock show and rodeo in the world. Five universities and three law schools offer excellent educational opportunities.
